Shortly after 6am on Monday, officers responded to reports of a man injured at a home on Dilston Road in Arthur’s Hill.
Emergency services attended and found a man with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a blade. Read more:Wallsend father Nathaniel Wardle was allegedly murdered in the garden by three teenagers Despite the best efforts of medical staff, 49-year-old Beimnet Gebreab, from Newcastle, died as a result of his injuries and a homicide investigation was subsequently launched. A man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody. The man arrested – Yasim Ismael, 38, of Dilston Road, Newcastle – has since been charged with Beimnet’s murder. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before magistrates in Newcastle on Wednesday. The house in Dilston Road was cordoned off by police on Monday with an officer standing guard outside. Meanwhile, part of nearby Brighton Grove was also cordoned off with coroners examining the scene and placing numbered evidence markers. Read next:
